IndieCommunication: Fraudulent Orders, Status Page, and Indies First
Here's the latest news from the IndieCommunication e-newsletter from the IndieCommerce team:
Fraudulent Online Orders
When canceling fraudulent orders on your IndieCommerce or IndieLite website, use the new “Cancel – Fraud” order status. This order status tags these orders as being fraudulent, allowing you to better monitor fraud activity on your website.
If we can get every store on IndieCommerce and IndieLite to use “Cancel – Fraud,” it will help us to more closely monitor fraudulent orders across the entire IndieCommerce system. We can then alert ABA members to fraud trends and red flags as they evolve and more accurately alert members to possible fraud activity faster.
The “Cancel – Fraud” order status is just another “Cancel” state and functions exactly as the default “Cancel” order status. We’re just making it easier to find them.
IndieCommerce Status Page
If your IndieCommerce or IndieLite website ever goes down, your first stop should be the IndieCommerce Status Page. If we have an outage and are aware of it, IndieCommerce staff will immediately update that page and then post updates as warranted. If you don’t see a message about an outage on that page, please email us at [email protected] with “URGENT” in the subject line. Take a moment now to bookmark the IndieCommerce Status Page for future reference.
Dan Rather to Serve as ABA Spokesperson for This Year's Indies First Campaign
Author, journalist, and former news anchor Dan Rather will serve as the American Booksellers Association’s spokesperson for this year's Indies First campaign, taking place on Small Business Saturday, November 28. You can read the full announcement and find more information about the campaign here.
In addition, ABA will be hosting a virtual Indies First event for customers with Dan Rather on December 2, complete with free admission. IndieCommerce and IndieLite stores can build a webpage containing the event registration, the book, a donation product for your store, and event details.
