Each May, National Small Business Week shines a light on the impact that locally owned shops, restaurants, service providers, and entrepreneurs have on the U.S. economy and culture, including by investing in the community and creating jobs.

The celebratory week kicked off on Sunday with a proclamation from the White House and continues with a week of national events presented by the Small Business Administration (SBA), which reports that more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and these businesses create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

Here is a roundup of social media posts by a variety of non-bookstore businesses, including hardware stores, delis, restaurants, gift shops, and clothing boutiques, in celebration of National Small Business Week, which runs this year from Sunday, May 5, through Saturday, May 11.
