The nominees for the Women’s National Book Association’s 2019 Pannell Awards include 28 general bookstores and 11 children’s specialty bookstores.

The American Booksellers Association’s seventh ABC Children’s Institute will be held June 26–28 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh–Green Tree in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

More than 1,000 indie bookstores, schools, and libraries are participating in the 100th annual celebration, taking place from April 29 to May 5, 2019.

Nominations are being accepted for the WNBA Pannell Award, which honors bookstores that foster a love of reading and books in children and young adults.

Indie bookstores around the country are creating engaging and educational book displays in honor of Black History Month.

Registration for the event will open to all ABA member booksellers on Wednesday, February 20.

More than 150 indie stores have already registered to serve as event hosts for the April 29–May 5 celebration.

“This book is nonstop action from the opening sentence to the last paragraph,” says Carrie Deming of The Dog Eared Book. “I fell in love with all of the characters and the world they inhabit.”

The chances of winning a scholarship are high, so booksellers are encouraged to submit their names as soon as possible.
