Survey Seeks Booksellers’ Input on Banned Books Week
The sponsors of Banned Books Week are asking booksellers to respond to a short online survey, which will help organizers improve the only national celebration of the freedom to read. In addition to questions addressed to all participants, the survey asks booksellers how they would improve the free promotional kits that are distributed by the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) and Ingram Content Group. The kits were sent to 164 bookstores this year.
“Booksellers play a key role in Banned Books Week, and we need to hear what we can do to help them tell customers that book censorship is still a problem,” said ABFFE President Chris Finan.
The 2015 celebration of Banned Books Week will be held from September 27 through October 3.
In addition to ABFFE and the American Booksellers Association, Banned Books Week is sponsored by the American Library Association, American Society of Journalists and Authors, Association of American Publishers, Freedom to Read Foundation, National Association of College Stores, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, National Coalition Against Censorship, National Council of Teachers of English, PEN American Center, People for the American Way Foundation, and Project Censored.
