“Stamped” Virtual Book Club Extended
Throughout the month of May, students and readers have been joining authors Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi for a virtual book club to discuss Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You: A Remix of the National Book Award-winning Stamped From the Beginning (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers).
Kendi is unable to attend the May 27 book club, so a final meeting will take place on June 3. The series was originally scheduled to conclude on May 27.
Because the book club is sold out, anyone who has signed up who does not plan to attend is asked to cancel their reservation. Eventbrite will automatically register waiting readers in the order they joined the waitlist. Booksellers are encouraged to share this information with their customers.
The book club is moderated by Hannah Oliver Depp, owner of Loyalty Bookstore in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The remaining events will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET on May 27 and June 3.
An educator curriculum is available for students and readers to download on BookWeb.org, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. Additionally, ABA has created a variety of assets that booksellers can use to promote the book club.
