For National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15–October 15, we’re highlighting our Hispanic-owned member stores. Thank you to these amazing Hispanic bookstore owners who told us about their stores.

If you’re near any of these amazing stores this month, stop in and check them out!

The Book & Nook

The Book & Nook opened on August 23, 2023, in Warwick, New York. The Book & Nook carries new, used, antique, rare, signed, and first-edition books. They also carry new and vintage comics, as well as graphic novels.

Owner Candace Rivera is Puerto Rican and was born and raised in New York. She is the first person in her family to earn a Bachelor’s degree and to open a store. Having always loved books, she decided to take the leap and pursue her dream of running a bookstore and working for herself. Her past DEI work also informs her store’s mission — to carry books for all ages and backgrounds.

“As a millennial Hispanic woman bookstore owner,” said Rivera, “I know I am one of few. So, I am excited to have this unique opportunity to amplify the many voices and stories of authors in my community and around the world.”
