Monthly Indie Next List Moves to Digital Format
The American Booksellers Association is now producing the monthly Indie Next Lists in digital-only formats.
The monthly list will be announced in Bookselling This Week the first week of the preceding month (for example, the July Indie Next List will be announced June 3). When the monthly lists are announced, booksellers can visit BookWeb.org to access the following digital files:
- Excel file
- Shelf-talkers
- Now in Paperback flier
- Now in Paperback shelf-talkers
Lists are also available on IndieBound.
The quarterly Kids’ Indie Next List will continue to be printed and distributed in the quarterly kids’ box mailings.
The May Monthly Box mailing is on its way to stores; while booksellers will not find the June flier inside, it is available on BookWeb.org as outlined above.
For IndieCommerce and IndieLite sites, booksellers can select to add an Indie Next List ad banner that promotes titles from the current list. The ad features the book’s cover, the title and author, and a bookseller quote along with the Indie Next List logo. One title will appear at a time and will be shown at random from the current month’s titles; the block can be placed anywhere on the page. To enable this function, contact the IndieCommerce team. See an example here. The ads also appear on IndieBound.
In addition, booksellers can sign up to send the free Indie Next List e-newsletter to their customers. More than 600,000 bookstore customers currently receive the list from 159 bookstores.
Visit BookWeb.org to learn more about the Indie Next List. Questions can be directed to Director of Development and Publisher Relations Matt Zoni.
