Here’s what’s happening this week in the book industry:

The Book Industry Charitable Foundation’s Bank on Booksellers fundraiser will return in June this year; the organization, which supports independent booksellers in financial crisis, is seeking authors, illustrators, comic book artists, and celebrities to decorate a piggy bank to be auctioned.

Fourteen booksellers have been selected for Bookselling Without Borders scholarships, which will take them to book fairs across the world this year, the Istanbul Book Fair, Turin Book Fair, and Frankfurt Book Fair, as well as the India Seagull Books Residency and Rome Otherwise Bookstore Residency.

Ripped Bodice, a romance bookstore in Culver City, California, has published its fourth annual State of Racial Diversity in Romance Report.

We Need Diverse Books is launching two new internship grants that will support interns from diverse backgrounds working in adult publishing. In other news, WNDB has canceled its Diversity in Children’s Literature Symposium and the Walter Dean Myers Award Ceremony on March 13 due to COVID-19.

The Bologna Book Fair in Italy has been canceled due to COVID-19.

The National Book Critics Circle has postponed its awards ceremony due to COVID-19.

Emma Watson selected Sex and World Peace by Valerie Hudson, Bonnie Ballif-Spanvill, Mary Caprioli, and Chad F. Emmett (Columbia University Press) as her International Women’s Day book selection.

Hachette Book Group has announced that it will not publish Woody Allen’s memoir after protests by employees and others.

Voting for the third annual Anna Dewdney Read-Together Award is open.

Random House Children’s Books imprint Delacorte Press is launching Underlined, a young adult trade paperback imprint.

Starting now, Workman Publishing will publish and distribute audiobooks to trade and library channels through its new imprint, Workman Audio.
