In case you missed it, the American Booksellers Association’s Governance Review Committee is seeking booksellers who are interested in participating in a governance survey.

The year-long scholarship will send one bookseller to ABA’s 2019 Winter Institute and their region’s 2019 fall trade show as well as provide $1,000 to start a community outreach program through the store.

“It significantly took stress out of my holiday season,” said Green Bean Books owner Jennifer Green, who received a bonus last year.

Attending booksellers can participate in an education session on maximizing pre-order campaigns, meet one-on-one with IndieCommerce staff, and enter to win a Winter Institute scholarship.

ABA’s Nominating Committee, chaired by Annie Philbrick of Bank Square Books and Savoy Bookshop & Café, is seeking qualified candidates to stand for election to ABA’s Board of Directors in 2019.

ABA member stores can take advantage of more than 30 publisher specials on a wide array of frontlist and backlist titles in celebration of the sixth annual Indies First on November 24.

“Receiving a holiday bonus from James Patterson made me feel like my contributions are valued,” said Buffy Cummins, a bookseller at Second Star to the Right Children’s Books and a 2017 recipient.

A nominee for the Board of Directors must be a current owner or employee of an ABA member independent bookstore and have at least three years of recent experience as owner or employee.

Any ABA member may nominate a qualified candidate to stand for election to the ABA Board of Directors in 2019; self-nominations are also welcome.
