To be eligible for a scholarship to the 2020 event, applicants must be from an ABA member store that has not attended Winter Institute in the past seven years.

Ballots are due April 30 for the 2019 ABA Board of Directors elections. The nominees for four director spots are Jenny Cohen, Bradley Graham, Kris Kleindienst, and Chris Morrow, as well as Jamie Fiocco for president.

Attending booksellers will meet with groups of editors from participating publishers in one of two shifts to talk about their newest books.

All main store members of ABA were sent an e-mail with a link to the ballot for the 2019 Board of Directors elections and biographical information on each of the candidates. Ballots are due April 30.

The April 10 issue of BTW will feature a link to an online form booksellers and other industry professionals can use to pitch topics for Winter Institute education sessions along with presenters and moderators.

Booksellers who participate will meet with groups of editors from different publishers to talk about new and upcoming books.

Booksellers and publishers who sign up will have the opportunity to take either a full-day or a half-day tour of Pittsburgh’s independent bookstores.

Attendees will be invited to play and learn the Harry Potter-inspired sport alongside members of the Steel City Quidditch Club, an internationally recognized club team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Registration will be capped at 250 ABA member stores for the July event, which serves as a campaign to promote the value of shopping locally.

The 2019 scholarship program was revised this year to support booksellers’ dependents, spouses, and partners in pursuing their higher education goals.
