Help Page

There is no default help page in Drupal 7. However, there is a link included in the order confirmation email your customer receives pointing them to a help page on your website. That link will direct visitors back to your front page unless there is a custom help page created and configured on the site.

Error Page

You may create custom error pages for a 403 error (access denied) or a 404 error (page not found).

By default, the pages for each of those messages state:

Access Denied
You are not authorized to access this page.

Page Not Found
The requested page "/cake" could not be found.

Front Page

For a website, the ‘Front Page’ is what site visitors land on when they go to www.yoursitename.com. Any published content ‘promoted to the front page’ will be the default content on the front page. You may, however, create a custom front page and set that to display by default instead.

Using images on your website should be done with careful consideration, just like any other component of your site. The images used should enhance the user’s experience, help with branding, and improve visual appeal. Below, we review the various ways in which images can be uploaded to your website and some tools that can be used with them.

Introduction to Taxonomy and Views

In this webinar we will discuss:

  • Basics of Drupal Taxonomy – vocabulary and terms, focusing on creating taxonomy for the 'event' content type
  • Introduction to Drupal Views - a look at the views interface, how to edit an existing view and customize the 'Event' view with color coding and filtering using taxonomy.

Contextual Filters

Related nodes for specific books can be displayed in a block on book product pages by creating a view using a contextual filter and setting the view block to display on book pages.

Note: For this to work, the book must be placed in a booklist of the related content type (in this example, ‘Event’). To learn how to create a booklist please review “Creating Booklists”.

Pages

Creating pages is one of the first steps in setting up your website and something you will do frequently; the steps below give you all the options available. The only required options are those noted with a red asterisk *.

CREATE A PAGE

Navigate to: Content > Add Content > Page

There are several available fields for you to utilize to create the content of your page:

  1. Title*: This text will be used in 3 places:

Booklists

Every page and event page has a ‘Books’ feature where you can create a unique list of products for users to review and add items to their cart by entering the Product ISBN, SKU or Model.

NOTE: We recommend keeping booklists to 10-15 items.

CREATE THE LIST

Navigate to: Content > Add Content > Page (or content type of choice)

Files

You can add a file (txt doc docx xls xlsx pdf ppt pptx pps ppsx odt ods odp) to your website as long as the content type you have chosen has a ‘File’ option. If the content type does not have a ‘File’ option, it can most likely be added by visiting the ‘Manage Fields’ tab for that content type and adding it.

PREPARE TO ADD A FILE

Knowing where your file is located on your computer will make adding it to the website quick and easy. Once you know where your file is locally, navigate to the page you want to add it to.

PREPARE TO ADD A LINK

Identify the link you want to use:

  1. If the link you want to add is to a page on your website you will want to know the internal path
  2. If the link you want to add is to something outside of your website you will want the complete URL
