Although the physical campaign is on hold until 2021, booksellers can access videos, activities, and social media posts to celebrate the 2020 event virtually.

IBD will be doing a social media push about indie bookstores starting on April 19 and ending on the original celebration date of April 25.

“We are now looking forward and can’t wait to return with a stronger show than ever in 2021,” said Jenny Martin, event director for BookExpo and BookCon.

Booksellers should contact the Westin La Paloma to cancel their hotel reservation, and keep an eye out for a refund of their Children’s Institute registration fee.

The 8th annual Children’s Institute, scheduled for June 22–24, 2020, will now take place in June 2021 at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

BookExpo will now be held July 22–24 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The grant includes a three-night stay at The New Yorker, a Wyndham Hotel, and $150 in BookExpo Bucks.

As the forums are held in conjunction with regional bookseller association events, booksellers are encouraged to check with their regional association to learn the status of their local event.

All booksellers are encouraged to review the program and consider sharing their expertise as a panelist at Children’s Institute. 

Registration for the institute is open, as are the ABA hotel room blocks and sign-up for the new Bookseller Olympics special event.

All indie booksellers — ABA members and non-members alike — are invited to take part in the Spring Forums, held in conjunction with the regional bookseller associations.
